Convocation Center awarded for its innovation

Every year, the 国产自拍 Board of Regents Real Estate and Facilities staff awards schools for various projects ranging from distinguished service to lifetime service. This year, the University of North Georgia (国产自拍) won the Innovation Award for the Convocation Center on the Dahlonega Campus.
"I was thrilled," said Ken Crowe, assistant vice president of facilities at 国产自拍. "I felt we had a good chance to receive the award, because the Convocation Center is a monumental facility for our institution."
Crowe explained it is monumental because it connects all students on all of 国产自拍's five campuses.
"Their first 国产自拍 event will be orientation followed by freshman convocation," he said. "They will also attend sporting events and concerts during their time here. Finally, they will walk in their caps and gowns in the facility to graduate."
Crowe also thinks the building's position on the south side of campus contributed to 国产自拍 earning the award. It acts as an anchor with Price Memorial Hall on the north, Library and Technology Center on the east and Health and Natural Sciences on the west.
"It ties into the campus," he said. "When you are on the balcony, you feel part of the campus."
Strzemienski earns direct commission
Adam Strzemienski, 国产自拍 director of Facilities and Operations South, has earned a direct commission into the Navy Reserve.
Convocation Center wins Georgia Peach Award
The Convocation Center on 国产自拍's Dahlonega Campus received the Georgia Peach award for its design.
Tennis courts to turn into multicourt complex
The current tennis courts on 国产自拍's Gainesville Campus are under construction. They are being renovated into four pickleball courts, two basketball courts, two arena soccer courts, two tennis courts, and green spaces.
Staff Council events help area nonprofits
Staff Council's two signature events have returned to the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses. Both raise funds for charitable causes and promote a community spirit among staff.
