Room measurements are approximate measurements. Height measurements are made floor to top of furniture piece. Furniture measurements are universal for all rooms but room dimensions will differ between single and double occupancy rooms.

New student move-in for fall 2024 will occur by appointment only on August 8, 9, and 10. Please check your ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ email the first week in July for the opportunity to sign up for a move-in appointment. Students must submit a photo for their ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Nighthawks Card prior to coming to campus

Move-in Information

Move-in will be by appointment only August 8, 9, and 10. ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ classes begin on August 12, 2024. Please check your ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ email the first week in July for the opportunity to sign up for a move-in appointment. Only two cars are permitted per student, and only two guests will be permitted for each student.

¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Nighthawks ID Card

¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ students must bring their ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Nighthawks ID card with them to check into the residence halls. New students may pick up their ID card at orientation. Students not attending an in-person orientation may submit their Nighthawks ID photo online at least 3 days prior to their move-in and pick up their card at move-in.

Students who completed a housing contract with Residence Life and will not attend ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ should e-mail residencelife@ung.edu and attach a completed cancellation form as soon as possible.

Move-In Information

New residents moving into the residence halls for spring semester should receive an e-mail from Residence Life that contains important room and roommate information. This e-mail also includes the day/time for move-in and the building into which you will be checking. Please note that students should not arrive before the assigned move-in time, as they will not be allowed to move-in early. 

¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Nighthawks ID Card

Students must bring their ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Nighthawks ID card with them to check into the residence halls. Students will not have access to the dining hall without it. 

The residence halls open at designated times for each semester. Residents are not allowed to move in early. Each student is expected to move in at their assigned time.

You should bring items that will make you feel most comfortable in your room. However, remember that you will be sharing this space with another person. Also, there are items not allowed in the ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Residence Halls. You may access What To Bring, a list of recommended items to bring, a list of items provided in the residence hall and room, and a list of items prohibited in the ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ residence halls.

Most residents self-select their roommates through the ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Housing Portal.  For students who do not self-select, the Residence Life Staff puts a lot of effort into assigning compatible roommates, and we ask you to make every effort to work out minor issues. However, in either case, there are several opportunities during the year for a student to find a new roommate and change rooms.

¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Suite-style housing (NG Suites, The Commons, non-cadet students in Patriot Hall) is open during university holidays and breaks. Academic year contracts for Suite-style housing end the Sunday following graduation each spring.  Separate summer housing contracts are available for NG Suites for students who are taking summer classes.

Full-time students who have not earned 60 semester hours and do not meet one of the exceptions to the Residence Policy must live on campus.

Students may live off-campus if they live with and commute daily from the permanent legal residence of parent(s) or grandparent(s) within 50 miles of the campus; are 21 years of age or older; or have completed 2 years of successful active military service. 

Residents in the following halls are required to purchase a . Students are originally assigned an All Access Plan but may change to a 15 or 10 meal plan before or during drop-add.

• North Georgia Suites (suite style)
• Patriot Hall (suite style)
• The Commons (suite style)

Residents in the following hall do not have to purchase a meal plan.

• Owen Hall (apartment style)

Additionally, there are food vendors in the following buildings:

• Hoag Student Center: Food court and Einstein Bros. Bagels
• Chestatee Building: Starbucks
• Library Technology Center: Java City

All students are allowed to have a car on campus as long as it is registered with Parking Services. All fees are included in student fees.

Each residence hall room is wired for computer access to the campus network. It is the student’s responsibility to have the appropriate configurations on his/her computer.

There are two wireless networks in the residence halls, ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ-RESNet-Media and ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ-RESNet. ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ-RESNet is devoted to connecting laptops, phones, and tablets. 

¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ-RESNet-Media is used to connect any of your gaming or media devices. Links with all the information you need to get you up and running on ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ-RESNet-Media and ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ-RESNet are listed below.

¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Residence Halls do not provide satellite or cable TV access, but students may want to bring their own streaming device (Roku, AppleTV, Chromecast, etc. to access television shows).

• You must have your key with you when you come to pick up your letter mail at the Central Post Office.
• To assure delivery of mail and packages, always include full name and box number in your address.
• Advise all correspondents that your mail should be addressed as follows:

• Storage space in the Post Office is limited. Mail should be checked weekly. If not, the mail is subject to being returned to sender or forwarded. (Ex: newspapers, packages) 

Things to know about picking up parcels:  

• You will receive an email from ¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Postal Services for items that have a tracking number. Please read the email, as it will instruct you to show us the email (screenshots are okay) and your ID. You cannot pick up anyone else’s parcels unless special arrangements are made with Postal Services.
• USPS Mail arrives in the morning, and during standard volume is processed by 11 a.m..   
• UPS, FedEx and DHL arrives on campus at the Logistics Warehouse before 2 p.m., and is transferred to the Post Office between 2:30 and 4 depending on volume.
• If you have a tracking number from USPS, FedEx, DHL or UPS (not amazon) that says your item has been delivered and it has been more than 1 business day, but you still have not received an email from us, please bring your tracking number to the front window for us to assist you with tracking your item.

Guests from outside the residence hall must be escorted at all times by their host. Guests from outside the residence hall, regardless of gender, must check in at the front desk. 

Visitation hours for guests in Donovan Hall, Lewis Hall, Lewis Annex, North Georgia Suites, the non-cadet floor in Patriot Hall, and The Commons are 10 a.m. – midnight, Monday – Thursday, and 10 a.m. – 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Visitation hours for guests in Owen Hall are 10 a.m. - midnight, Monday - Thursday and weekend visitation hours are Friday at 10 a.m. - Sunday at midnight.
